Mystic Seaport to offer behind-the-scenes tours
Mystic - Although Mystic Seaport will be closed to general visitors from Jan. 2 to Feb. 13, it will offer a new weekend behind-the-scenes tour of the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan and the museum shipyard during that time.
Tours will be offered from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays beginning Jan. 3 and ending Feb. 8.
In addition to the Morgan, participants will receive a guided tour of the shipyard projects, including the restorations of the 1908 steamboat Sabino and the Mayflower II, the replica of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to America in 1620.
Tours will begin at the museum's main entrance. Admission is $10 for Seaport members and $12 for nonmembers. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling (860) 572-5331. Reservations are encouraged, although walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis.
