A program promising hope to the long-term unemployed has opened applications for admission starting in September.

The program, a project of The WorkPlace, combines job readiness training with personal and family support services, financial counseling and a paid work experience. Nearly 90 percent of participants who made it into job placements have found full-time employment, the program claims.

Connecticut residents who have exhausted 26 or more weeks of unemployment are eligible. To apply, go to www.platformtoemployment.com and click on the Connecticut Application button.
