    Stonington looks to modify manufacturing zoning in Mystic

    Stonington -- The Stonington Economic Development Commission and the Department of Planning will host a community planning forum on get input on the possibility of changing the manufacturing zone in a section of Mystic on July 25 at 7 p.m. at the Mystic Fire Station.

    The primary focus of the meeting will be on the neighborhood in the M-1 zone between the railroad tracks and Edgemont Street just west of the Broadway Avenue Extension. The property is across from Acme Wire Products.  

    According to an announcement from the town, it wants to hear what residents and property owners would like to see on this section of M-1 land in order to determine its highest and best use.

    The EDC and the planning department are working together to update the zoning regulations in various neighborhoods which is one of the goals in the 2015 Town of Stonington Plan of Conservation and Development. The town is also looking to streamline zoning regulations to make them clearer and help lessen investment risk for property owners.
