Women business professionals to share tips, services with job seekers

Norwich — Thirteen women in professional fields ranging from fashion and health, finance and business to jewelry and photography will give presentations and offer tips to budding entrepreneurs during an event Thursday evening at Café Otis, 80 Broadway in downtown Norwich.

Women Empowered, First Job Success will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Café Otis. Light snacks will be served, and a cash bar, appetizers and meals will be available for sale. There will be raffles, and admittance is free.

The evening will feature presentations on how to create a great first impression when starting a career or returning to the workforce. Professional participants include stylists for clothing, make-up, hair and jewelry. A professional photographer will be on hand to schedule professional head shots if needed.

Financial presenters will discuss budget and credit counseling, finances and business planning, and a professional consultant will discuss resume writing and interviewing skills.

“This event is to provide the tools, the resources and names of businesses and businesswomen who want to share their knowledge, their experience and their friendship to young women,” event host Jan Mallett said in a news release, “to give them the confidence and self-esteem that will help support their business endeavors and help them to secure the job or career they want.”
