Heavy hitters to help celebrate Mohegan Sun sportsbook's grand opening

Mohegan — Former heavyweight boxing champion Larry Holmes and famed ring announcer Michael Buffer, known for the catchphrase “Let’s get ready to rumble!” are among the sports celebrities scheduled to appear Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook’s grand opening.

The public event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.

Former New England Patriots Max “Big Country” Lane and Dan Koppen and former NFL wide receiver Chris Hogan, a member of the Patriots’ 2017 championship team, will join the party.

Festivities will start at 6:30 p.m. with a parade from the Sky Tower hotel lobby to the new sportsbook, where Buffer will emcee a champagne toast alongside officials from Mohegan Sun and FanDuel.

The sportsbook debuted with a “soft” opening on Feb. 10.
