Frank and JoAnn Francisconi of New London are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Rebecca to David Frederick Hughes III, son of David and Charlene Hughes of Millbury, Mass.

The beautifully orchestrated proposal took place in Boston Common in the city where they first met. It was immediately followed by a special reception with family and friends.

Katie graduated from St. Bernard High School in 2003. She graduated cum laude from Roger Williams University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Katie will receive her master’s degree in psychology and counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge in May 2016.

David graduated from Millbury High School. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in engineering. David will receive his master’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in May 2016.

A September 2017 wedding at Linden Place in Bristol, R.I., is planned.
