New London Veterans Affair Committee to unveil Walk of Honor

New London — The New London Veterans Affair Committee, with the backing of City Hall, Parks and Recreation, and Parks Conservancy, has announced the installation of a Walk of Honor at the base of the Veterans Memorial in Williams Park at the corner of Williams and Broad streets.

The Walk of Honor will be made up of inscribed bricks honoring local veterans. The committee urges New London residents to recognize and honor their loved ones who served in the military by purchasing and installing an inscribed brick in the Walk of Honor.

Initially there will be two areas in front of the memorial, each holding up to 300 inscribed bricks. The committee has set the price for the inscribed bricks at $50 for a 4-by-8 with up to four lines of text and $75 for an 8-by-8 with up to six lines of text. Each brick will be laser inscribed and has a lifetime guarantee from the manufacturer. Contact the New London Veterans Affair office at DVA@ci.New-London.CT.US if interested in purchasing a brick.

A groundbreaking ceremony with the mayor, the Laborers Union Local 547, TVCCA New London Veterans Coffeehouse, and the New London Veterans Affair Committee will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday.  Applications will be available at the event, which is open to the public.
