    UConn Cooperative Extension program accepting Master Gardener Program applications

    The University of Connecticut Extension System is accepting applications for the Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program for 2014.

    The program provides horticultural training to those who want to share knowledge with the public through community volunteerism, and wish to expand their gardening interests.

    The program consists of 14 class sessions (one full day per week) beginning Jan. 3. The Master Gardener program includes over 100 hours of classroom training and 60 hours of volunteer service.

    Those who complete the program will receive University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension Master Gardener certification. The charge for the program is $415. Partial scholarships may be available, based on demonstrated financial need.

    Classes will take place in Torrington, Vernon, Norwich, New Haven and Stamford.
