Groton — Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar is thanking local veterans and active-duty service members with a free meal on Veterans Day.

The Veterans Day menu, served Nov. 11 only to dine-in guests, offers some of the restaurant’s signature items, including the house sirloin, bacon cheddar cheeseburger, three cheese chicken penne, fiesta lime chicken, double crunch shrimp, chicken tenders platter and the oriental chicken salad.

The local Applebee’s is located at 350 Long Hill Road.

Veterans and active-duty military need to provide proof of service, which includes a U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

Applebee’s is also asking the public to thank military personnel by visiting www.thankyoumovement.com to leave a personal message of support from now until Veterans Day. The community that submits the most messages will be declared the “Most Thankful Neighborhood” and receive a free concert from Gavin DeGraw.
