Sean Spicer's latest post-White House gig: Correspondent for 'Extra'

If you can't beat 'em, sorta join 'em? That might be the mantra for the newest special correspondent for the newsmagazine show "Extra": Sean Spicer, the former White House press secretary better known for taking questions from reporters than posing them himself.

Spicer made his debut on the syndicated show Wednesday with an interview with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his wife, Susan. Among the bombshell revelations Spicer elicits? Pompeo has been to a couple dozen countries, loves his job and has eclectic musical tastes that include AC/DC, Toby Keith and Queen.

The gig is a version of the talk show the former Trump-er had been shopping to various networks in which he planned to interview newsmakers in casual settings. Look for future "Extra" segments with top White House aides Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Sanders, he says, although there are plans to broaden his interviewee targets beyond the folks from the administration he once served.

Still, he says, his "get" for a sit-down (or maybe a stroll or a mani-pedi session, since he's going for a button-down approach) is the most insider-y of White House insiders. "FLOTUS, hands down!" he says.
