    Movie tip: "Greta"

    MOVIE TIP

    Greta

I expected more from a thriller starring French icon Isabelle Huppert and directed and co-written by Neil Jordan, whose credits include “The Crying Game.” But “Greta” is a boilerplate stalker-gone-wild flick, right down to the sudden, loud, dissonant music chords when said stalker appears. Chloe Grace Moretz plays a naïve young thing living in New York City who finds a pocketbook on the subway and returns it to its owner (Huppert). They start a mother-daughter relationship until Moretz learns that Huppert isn’t what she seems. “Greta” has many problems, including an inconsistent tone (dead serious, then intentionally darkly comic, then unintentionally funny). And it’s hard to imagine the petite, bone-thin 65-year-old Huppert being a physical threat to the robust 22-year-old Moretz.
