Harry Connick, Jr., gives a concert at Foxwoods

Only someone as cool as Harry Connick, Jr., could be inspired to write an entire concept album while building a wooden workbench. And, no, the album isn't about tools or home improvement.

Instead, his latest record is called "Every Man Should Know," and it's a treatise on every nuance and twist required when humans learn how to love. The connection between such heady emotions and hammering nails in a workbench?

As Connick says on his web site: "My lack of any knowledge about carpentry left me feeling so inadequate. It led me to think about other things that every man should know, like how to change a tire. Then I began thinking about what everybody should know how to do, and that's to love."

Connick, Jr., will present material from "Every Man Should Know" when he performs Saturday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Of course, he'll also play songs from across the breadth of his adventurous and visionary career- and rest assured his band is all-world.

Oh, and just because you can: call out a request for some James Booker. As a youngster, Connick, Jr., actually took lessons from the eccentric New Orleans piano genius. That fact alone would make a great book.
