Coast Guard Band to stream pre-recorded autumn concert Sunday
As part of their ongoing, COVID-era "Virtual Concert Hall via Livestream" series, the United States Coast Guard Band presents "Autumn Winds" at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The "Virtual Concert Hall" programs curate video and audio selections from the band's archives of previously recorded concerts. For "Autumn Winds," selections include three marches by Czech composer Antonin Vranicky; an arrangement of Vaughan Williams's "Silent Noon" by (then-band director) Kenneth Megan and sung by Musician 1st Class/soprano Megan Weikleenget; and a show-closing rendition of Stravinsky's "Octet," again with vocals by Weikleenget.
The streamed concerts are free and available for viewing on the Coast Guard Band's YouTube channel. For more information, go to www.uscg.mil/band.
