The Kate hosts Karla Bonoff in concert

    Karla Bonoff (Gary Lambert)

Karla Bonoff has a rich, beautiful voice, sure, but she’s best known for her songwriting.

Linda Ronstadt recorded a number of Bonoff-penned tunes, including three for her classic 1976 album “Hasten Down the Wind” (including “Someone to Lay Down Beside Me”) and a later one, the 1989 duet with Aaron Neville on “All My Life.” (Bonoff sang backup for Ronstadt early on, and she appeared in the recent Ronstadt documentary “The Sound of My Voice.”)

Bonnie Raitt and Trisha Yearwood each recorded Bonoff’s “Home,” and Wynonna Judd recorded her “Tell Me Why.”

Bonoff has always continued her own singing career, too, hitting the top 20 with her single “Personally” in 1982.

She’ll perform in concert Wednesday at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, and it's bound to be pretty great.

Karla Bonoff, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; for this concert, vaccination status has to be confirmed for all audience members; $42; (860) 510-0453.
