Nickel Creek’s only CT tour stop is at UConn Storrs

Nickel Creek is back from a hiatus with a new album, “Celebrants,” and a series of live shows — including a concert Thursday at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

This is the group’s only Connecticut stop, fans, so take note.

Nickel Creek is a Grammy-winning, platinum-selling roots trio consisting of mandolinist Chris Thile, violinist Sara Watkins and guitarist Sean Watkins.

The lyrics on the new album talk about love, friendship, time and travel. NPR called the songs on this record “nuanced and honest, not fantasy — one suited for introspection.”

Nickel Creek, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts, UConn, Storrs; $35-$65; Jorgensen.uconn.edu.
