Chelsea Groton Bank is providing free secure document shredding services this fall: Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., East Lyme Public Library, 39 Society Road, Niantic; Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.–1 p.m, Mystic & Noank Library, 40 Library St., Mystic; Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m.–1 p.m, Bill Memorial Library, 240 Monument St., Groton.

Members and non-members can bring up to three file-sized boxes of documents. Chelsea Groton will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank. Items in need are canned and dry goods, that are not in glass containers, in the following categories: tuna, meats, stew, vegetables, fruits, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, dried beans, peanut butter, and baby food.

GRAND OPENINGS

Cove Ledge Beer Wine and Spirits has moved to 147 Water St., Stonington Borough. Keith and Annette Bienkowski have owned the business since 2015. They both hold credentials with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust. Keith has also earned the Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) credential from the Society of Wine Educators.

With the opening of their Stonington Borough flagship store, Keith and Annette will host tastings, educational opportunities, and community events.

Dr. William J. Browning, Applied Mathematics, Inc., Gales Ferry, was named a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences in “recognition of outstanding contributions, achievements, and service that have advanced the profession of operations research and the management sciences.”

Ocean State Job Lot has been honored with a 2022 Sustainability Leadership Award from the Business Intelligence Group. In 2018, in an effort to lower their carbon footprint, OSJL made a $2 million investment to relamp their distribution center and a $12 million investment to replace the lighting in all of their store locations. As a direct result of energy modernization and a complete LED rollout, OSJL reduced their overall energy consumption by 17.4 million kWh in just one year. It also instituted a successful recycling program.
