    New London ― A low-flying helicopter contracted by Amtrak conducted survey work along railroad tracks in southeastern Connecticut on Monday.

    Amtrak said the work is part of an inspection of the track’s catenary system, which carries electric power to the trains.

    A helicopter could be seen hovering over downtown New London on Monday morning. The survey work was expected to continue throughout the day in New London and Groton.
