Waterford - Roberta (Foley) Sexton, 80, of Waterford, and formerly of Flanders, entered eternal life on May 22, 2009, at home in the comfort of her loving family.She was born on Oct. 10, 1928, in the Flanders section of East Lyme, the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (Fraser) Foley.She was united in marriage to Stanley Sexton on Oct. 6, 1947, in Flanders Baptist Church; Mr. Sexton survives her.Mrs. Sexton was life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Waterford. She was an avid golfer and a former member of Fox Run Golf Club in Vermont and later the Golf Hammock in Seabring, Fla.Besides her beloved husband of 62 years, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Wendy and Gregory Cioci of Waterford and Sherry and Joseph Sarpu of Oakdale; four siblings, Donald, Robert, and William Foley and Arlene Barrila; four grandchildren, Amanda Cioci-Kane and husband, Andrew, Jason Cioci and wife, Nikki, Fallon and Shanna Sarpu; and eight grandchildren.She was predeceased by a son, Gary Sexton.Her family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. A memorial service will be held at Flanders Baptist Church at a later date and time.
