Patricia Ann Kehoe, 74. Old Saybrook

Patricia Ann Kehoe, 74, of Old Saybrook, died at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on May 16.  She was the wife of the late Donald M. Kehoe. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on Nov. 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Kelly and Rose Ann Crooks.

Patricia will be remembered for her advocacy and her involvement in her community. She was a moving force behind the Parks and Recreation Department for over 35 years, and she had also served for years on the Parks and Recreation Commission and as its chair. In addition, she coached Little League, High School and Regional softball, and she embodied the spirit of "playing."

Patricia was a champion of the underdog and worked tirelessly for the betterment of the children and adolescents that she mentored. She was co-founder of the Ecumenical Holiday Food Basket program, as well as a CCD teacher and CYO advocate and a volunteer staff member at the St. Paul Homework tutoring program.  In 2005, she received the Healthy Community-Healthy Youth Asset Builder Award as an affirmation of her service.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne K. Allen and her husband Craig of Madison, Gerald P. Kehoe and his wife Kelly of Norwell, Massachusetts, and Patrick M. Kehoe of Springfield, Massachusetts; her four beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Declan Allen and Patrick and Dallis Kehoe; and her sister-in-law, Joann Kelly and her husband Buzzy of Rockland, Maine. She is also survived by many cherished friends... her "treasures." She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Kelly.

Memorial services were held on May 24 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Valley Shore Animal Welfare League Inc., P.O. Box 1134, Westbrook, CT  06498, or to the Homework Club at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Old Saybrook, CT  06475.
