    Mark Culligan, 62, Oxford, formerly of Dumont, New Jersey

    Mark Culligan, 62, of Oxford, formerly of Dumont, New Jersey, died July 18 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford.  He was the husband of Janet Nelson Culligan. He was born on June 17, 1949 in Hackensack, New Jersey, son of Catherine Van Saders Warchalowski of Bergenfield, New Jersey, and the late James Joseph Culligan. He was the stepson of the late Alexander Warchalowski, Jr. 

    Mark had served in the U.S. Navy for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a decorated soldier, having been awarded the Vietnam Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Campaign w/ Device 60, the Armed Forces Service Medal for Korea, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal.

    A proud member of the VFW Post 1607 in Southbury, Mark had worked for over 30 years with IBM Global Services in the office of CIO in the special projects division.  His hobbies included playing the guitar, as well as nature and the outdoors, but what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

    Besides his loving wife of 36 years and his mother, he is survived by a son, M. Brent Culligan of Oxford; a daughter, Deirdre A. Culligan O’Leary of Branford; two grandchildren, Brooke Alexis O’Leary and Peter D. O’Leary, Jr.; and three sisters, Maureen Baldassini and her husband Jose of Hackensack, New Jersey, Jane Sagaas and her husband Marshall of Englewood, New Jersey, and Wendy Cronin and her husband Rod of Bloomingdale, New Jersey.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Alexander Warchalowski III, and two sisters, Karen Rivas and Deborah DeConti.

    A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, at 6 p.m., at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson – Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, Southbury.  Calling hours will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, Pediatric Cardiology Unit, P.O.
