Arthur George (Chip) Williams III, 64, Madison

Arthur George (Chip) Williams III, of Madison, died June 30, on his 64th birthday, after a brief illness. He was the husband of 30 years to Cindy Williams. Chip was also the son of the late Eva Glass Williams and the Honorable Judge Arthur George Williams, Jr. and grandson of the late Maude and Arthur George Williams, Sr., who owned and ran the Dolly Madison Inn in the 1950s.

Chip graduated from St. Thomas More School and attended Morris Harvey College. He had served proudly in the U.S. Navy, after which he embarked on a sales/merchandising career with Camps Market, P & G, Better Val-U, and Acosta Sales.

An avid sports participant, Chip served on various boards of the Madison Country Club and was a founding member of the Dawn Patrol.

Besides his wife, he survived by his children, Lance and Marisa Abbott, along with his loving grandchildren, Mac, Matthew, Nicky, Ethan, Lauren, Katherine, Paige, and Danielle. He is also survived by his sister, Romy du Jong, and many loyal friends, golfing buddies, and fellow Yankees fans, who will miss him.

No visiting hours are planned, but a memorial service will take place later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics, a cause near and dear to Chip’s heart and for which he enjoyed raising money.  The Swan Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of arrangements.  Please visit www.swanfuneralhomemadison.com  for condolences and tributes.
