Josephine Apicelli DeMatteo, 99, of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of East Haven, died Dec. 1 at the Spring Hill Regional Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Augustine DeMatteo. Born in New Haven on Aug. 4, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Eufemia Marina Apicelli and the mother of Angeline Lenzi, Eufemia "Effie" Smith, Hope Reitz, and Doreen Merola. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Joseph Merola and siblings, Ralph, John, Fred, and Gaetano Apicelli, and Marie DiFabbio.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, on Friday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
