Shaun Higgins, 50, of West Haven, formerly of Guilford, died on Dec. 15. He was born in New Haven on March 29, 1962, son of Regina Kelly Higgins of Guilford and the late William John Higgins, Sr.  Shaun was an avid hockey fan and fisherman. He also cherished the time spent with his nieces and nephews, and he was a devoted follower of their sports teams.  In particular, he encouraged their involvement in hockey and football.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his brothers, William Higgins, Jr. of New Haven, Joseph Higgins of New Haven, and Timothy Higgins and his wife Melonie of LaPlata, Maryland; his sister Maribeth Lawrence and her husband Dane of Guilford; and his nieces and nephews, Brendan, Conor, and Kelsey Higgins of Hamden, Dylan Higgins of LaPlata, Maryland, and Dane, Catherine, and Will Lawrence of Guilford.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11:30 a.m., at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford.  Burial will be private.  Friends may call prior to the mass from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.  To share a memory or leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.GuilfordFuneralHome.com.
