Lizabeth Moriarty Schmitz, 61, wife of Bertram Schmitz of Clinton, died at her home on Dec. 24.  Lizabeth was born on Nov. 3, 1951, daughter of the late Edith (Lofgren) and William Moriarty.  She earned her master’s degree in engineering from UCONN and was a licensed engineer for United Technologies, Electric Boat, United Nuclear, and Sikorsky Aircraft.  She also served as treasurer for the Engineering Society of Connecticut.  

Besides her husband, she is survived by her brother William Moriarty and his wife Irene of Meriden and many cousins.

A private graveside service will be held in Walnut Grove Cemetery.  Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The Swan Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of arrangements.  For online tributes and condolences please visit www.swanfh.com.
