    Henry R. Tichy, Sr., 82, Guilford

    Henry R. Tichy, Sr., 82, of Guilford, died peacefully on Jan. 21 at the Guilford House, Guilford, surrounded by family.  He was the husband of 58 years to the late Evelynne Tichy.  Henry was born on Feb. 21, 1930, son of the late Frank and Mollie Seifert Tichy.  He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in North Guilford, and was also past deputy chief and charter member of the North Guilford Volunteer Fire Department. 

    Henry was a founding member of the Dudley Farm and spent countless hours restoring the buildings and bringing the farm back to life.  He was also the owner of Tichy Brothers and spent most of his adult life working with his brother Ted as a building contractor.  Henry was a member of various committees in Guilford. 

    Henry joined the National Guard in 1948 and served during the Korean Conflict.  He was deployed to Germany and was a tank commander and mechanic. 

    He is survived a large close knit family, including two brothers, Donald Tichy and his wife MaryEllen of Guilford and Ted Tichy and his wife Betty of North Madison; a sister, Doris Benton and her husband Robert of Florida; his son Henry Tichy, Jr. and wife Karina; and his two grandsons, Devin and Austin Tichy, and their mother Christine Tichy. He is also survived by many friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Edwin Tichy, and six sisters, Emilia Anderson, Alice McCarthy, Verna Pucella, Iola Goodison, Clara Foster, and Sandra Cox. www.guilfordfuneralhome.com.

    Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 129 Ledge Hill Rd., North Guilford, on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dudley Foundation, 2351 Durham Rd., Guilford, CT 06437, or to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 129 Ledge Hill Rd, Guilford, CT 06437.  The Guilford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
