David R. Lewis, Jr. (also known as David R. Lewisohn or D.R. Lewisohn), 68, a resident of The Commons, Hamre Lane, Branford, died peacefully on April 6 at the Vitas Hospice in Waterbury following a brief bout with cancer. David was born on Sept. 17, 1944 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, son of the late David Reese Lewis, Sr. and Dorothy Elizabeth (Lewis) Lewis. He spent his early life in North Wales and Orvilla, Pennsylvania, and attended North Penn High School in Lansdale with the class of 1962. David at times worked in carpentry, inspection, and mechanics, and through the mid 1980s, he produced avant-garde graphic art. Employing a number of pseudonyms, he also authored several experimental novels. He retired in Branford.  

David never married. He is survived by one brother, Donald B. Lewis of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, two nephews, one niece, and one grand-nephew.

Private burial will take place in the Knights of Pythias Greenwood Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, Branford, is in charge of arrangements.  See online memorial @ www.wsclancy.com.
