Steven J. Finta, Sr., 82, Branford
Steven J. Finta, Sr., 82, of Cedar Woods, Branford, formerly of Florida, died at Apple Rehab-Guilford on June 2. He was born in Branford on June 10, 1930, son of the late Steven G. and Pearl Balassa Finta. Steven had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and, before retiring, had worked in the insurance department of the Knights of Columbus for almost 30 years. His retirement was spent between Connecticut and Florida before he made Cedar Woods in Branford his permanent home in 2011.
Steven was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He will be missed by all, especially his friends at Cedar Woods.
He is survived by two children, Steven J. Finta, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, and Maura Guimares and her husband Al of Branford; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins; and his brother-in-law Dick Pannella. He was predeceased by his sister Mary A. Pannella.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church, 731 Main St., Branford, followed by burial with military honors in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Friends may call prior to mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford, CT.
