    Raffie “Rae” Strianese, 93, of East Haven, formerly of New Haven

    Raffie “Rae” Leone Strianese, 93, of East Haven, formerly of New Haven died on June 14 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Mattie Strianese. Born in New Haven on Sept. 24, 1919, Rae was a daughter of the late Andrew and Adeline DiCusati Leone and had resided in New Haven for most of her life before moving to East Haven 20 years ago. She was a seamstress for the former Gant Shirt Co. of New Haven for many years, and later worked for the former New Haven Shirt Company for several more years until retiring 30 years ago, and was a member of the Amalgamated Union Society of New Haven.

    Rae is survived by her two daughters Bridget (Robert) Carlo of Wallingford and Rosemary (Thomas) Calamo of East Haven, her sister Natalie Linteau of Branford, and her two granddaughters Rosanne Carlo of Tucson, Arizona and Rachel Carlo of Wallingford. She was predeceased by her four sisters Julia Farace, Carmel Esposito, Antoinette Sicignano, and Anna Aiello, and her three brothers Salvatore, Peter, and Frank Leone.

    Rae’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road, East Haven. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
