    Elsie H. Sullivan, 98, Madison, formerly of Branford

    Elsie H. Sullivan, 98, of Madison, formerly of Branford, beloved wife of the late Richard D. Sullivan Sr, died Sept. 5 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Elsie was born Sept. 26, 1914 in Branford to the late John and Hilda Mattson.

    Elsie worked at Homemaker’s Corner for several years. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and grandmother, and an exceptional seamstress. Her greatest joy was sewing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she created everything from curtains to baby doll clothes, outfits, christening dresses and even a wedding gown. She was truly an example of how to live life,“everyone dies, but not everyone lives.” Elsie lived a full, long, loving life.

    She is survived by three children, Irene and her husband Thomas Eagan of Cheshire, Linda and her husband Neil Olson of Bethel, Maine, and Gary Sullivan and his wife Diane of North Branford; her daughter-in-law Eleanor Sullivan of Salem and Florida; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her oldest son, Richard D. Sullivan, Jr., two brothers and two sisters.

    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. in the Tabor Lutheran Church, 45 Tabor Ave, Branford, followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave, West Haven. Friends may call prior to services from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford.
