    Richard Adler, 81, North Haven

    Richard Adler, 81, of North Haven, beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Joyce (Englander) Adler, died Oct. 28 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Richard was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Bronx, New York to the late Benjamin and Sarah (Bresnick) Adler. He earned an associate degree in civil engineering from SUNY Delhi, and worked many jobs, including the Big Top in New Haven. He also worked for the Connecticut Department of Transportation for 32 years, retiring as a records examiner and auditor in 1991.

    Richard was a member of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Association Company #5, the Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club, the Oddfellows, the North Haven Senior Center Chorus, and the Girl Scouts of America. He was a lifetime member and earned the highest national volunteer award from the Connecticut Trails Council. He will be missed by everyone whose lives touched his.

    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Marci and her husband Kris Petterson of Hamden; his grandchildren Keith and Eliana; and his brother Alvin and his wife Vita Adler of Woodridge, New York. 

    Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. in the Temple Beth Sholom, 1809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, followed by interment in the Beth Sholom Cemetery.
