    Betty Joan Zink, 83, Chester, formerly of New Britain

    Betty Joan (Hultquist) Zink, 83, of Chester, devoted wife of more than 50 years to the late James Zink, died peacefully Nov. 16 at Chesterfields Healthcare Center in Chester. She was born July 22, 1930 in Torrington to the late Hjalmar and Anna (Anderson) Hultquist.

    She graduated from Torrington High School in 1947, and moved to New Britain in 1956 after marrying James. She worked at Torrington Company, The New Britain Herald, and Sears, taking time off to raise her family and care for her grandchildren.

    Betty cherished time spent with family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren. She had a lifelong love of dogs, and even enjoyed their company during her last days. She was also known for her love of sweets and desserts. She had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh.

    The family wishes to thank Chesterfields Healthcare Center in Chester for the loving care extended to Mom throughout her illness.

    She is survived by her daughter Patricia and her husband Thomas Doak of Chester; her son Andrew Zink and his wife Julie of Farmington; grandchildren Timothy and Lauren of Chester and Hannah and Benjamin of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Kenneth; sisters Virginia and Barbara; and a grandson, Alex.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at the New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington CT 06111.
