Eugene “Gene the Barber” D’Eugenio, 86, of North Haven, beloved husband of the late Ann Falcigno D’Eugenio, died Nov. 19 at his home. He was born July 31, 1927 in New Haven to the late Michael and Philomena Vollano D’Eugenio.

He served our country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II, and was the owner of Gene’s Barber Shop for more than 50 years. He also served on the North Haven Auxiliary Police.

Gene loved fishing, painting, and watching westerns on TV. He also enjoyed golfing with his brothers, and was a big Yankees and Giants fan.

He is survived by his sons Joseph Robert D’Eugenio and John Richard D’Eugenio; son-in-law Edward Riley; daughter-in-law Patti D’Eugenio; grandchildren John Carl, Phyllis, Alyssa, Ann, and Kellie; and sisters Theresa Falcigno and Anna Granata. He was predeceased by his daughter Phyllis Jo D’Eugenio-Riley; siblings Celeste Capasso, Mary Francis, and Salvatore, Rocco, Michael, Frank and Joseph D’Eugenio; and sister-in-law Agnes Falcigno D’Eugenio.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday, Nov. 23 at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8-9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr #3, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
