    Cameron Brown, 99, Branford

    Cameron Brown, 99, of Branford, husband of 57 years to the late Katrina U. Brown, died Nov. 25 on his 99th birthday. He was born in Jamestown, New York to the late Cameron Brown and Frances Warant, and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Pennsylvania State University.

    During World War II he served in the United States Army as an anti-aircraft artillery instructor, and was part of the Okinawa occupying force. He retired as a Major in the Army Corps of Engineers Reserves. He held a long banking career before retiring as Senior Vice President of Second New Haven National Bank.

    In retirement, he traveled extensively, including a full circle journey around the world. He rooted for the Yankees, the Nittny Lions, and UConn Women’s Basketball. 

    He is survived by his sister Shirley Bothwell of Miami, Florida; sons Cameron “Jay” Brown, Jr., and his wife Lori of Middlefield and Peter Brown and his wife Susan of Branford; and six grandchildren, Duncan and his wife Marissa, Tristan, Cameron, and Lillian Brown, and John and Kate Swick. In addition to his wife, his childhood sweetheart who predeceased him 14 years ago on Nov. 25, he was predeceased by his brothers Bernard, Vernon, Wallace, and Herbert; and sisters Marguerite Lyttle and Barbara Bryan.

    A memorial gathering will be held privately, burial will be in Stony Creek Cemetery. Contributions may be sent to the Shoreline Greenway Trail, c/o Terry Mcguire, Treasurer, P.O. Box 148, Branford, CT 06405.  New Haven Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
