    Helen M. Fenwick, 93, Branford

    Helen M. Fenwick, 93, of Branford, wife of the late Harold J. Fenwick, Jr., died Nov. 24. Helen was born in 1920 in New Haven. 

    She helped pioneer the Homemakers Home Health Aide program in Branford in the 1960’s, and volunteered with the American Red Cross for 41 years, where she earned an award for exceptional volunteer service. She also volunteered for 36 years at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in West Haven. While living in Napa, California, she was active in the 4-H club and served as executive leader with her husband.

    She was a member of the Old Stone Church in East Haven, the Canoe Brook Senior Center in Branford, where she drove the transportation van, and the Yale Club in New Haven. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and painting; was an avid fan of mysteries; and was an accomplished gardener. She rode her bicycle until she was 80 years old.

    Helen is survived by three sons, Robert Fenwick of Phoenix, Arizona, John Fenwick and his wife Joan of Fort Myers, Florida, and Brian Fenwick and Linda Grosso of New York, New York; two grandchildren, Jason Fenwick of Fort Myers, Florida, and Jennifer and her husband Doug Hoffman of Winter Springs, Florida; and two great-granddaughters, Riley and Elizabeth Hoffman.

    A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. at Branford Center Cemetery, Montowese Street, followed by a private reception.
