Vern W. Wehr, 85, of Deep River, died Dec. 10 in Middletown. Vern was born Dec. 18, 1927 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Vern C. and Leona (Mook) Wehr, and raised in the Youngstown area. He married Carolyn L. (Fusek) Wehr on Oct. 18, 1947 in Canfield, Ohio.

He graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and earned a master’s degree in mathematics from Columbia University. He taught high school in Pelham, New York for more than 30 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Vern is survived by his wife of 66 years Carolyn L. Wehr; son James Wehr; daughter Kathy Harper; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, and his grandparents Mark and Anna Wehr.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Deep River Congregational Church, Church Lane, Deep River.
