Giampiero P. 'John' Mazzoni, 73, Deep River

Giampiero P. “John” Mazzoni, 73, of Deep River, beloved husband of Nancy Riccio Mazzoni, passed away at home after a 10-year battle with cancer.

Born in Florence, Italy, he was trained in architecture and design and was a professor at the Instituto d’Arte Statale di Firenze (State Art School of Florence). In 1967 he moved to Deep River with his wife and young daughter and worked at Keystone Systems in Chester for more than 30 years.

Along with being an award-winning sculptor, he was a hands-on artisan whose creative expertise is evident today in every project he undertook. He loved to be outdoors, work in his garden, and enjoyed Sunday dinners with family.

A loving and devoted father and grandfather, he leaves his wife Nancy; his daughter Luisa Wilson and her husband Jacob; daughter Tania Crosby and her husband Kevin, and his grandchildren Zachary, Alena, and Caterina, all of Deep River; his brother Tiziano Mazzoni and his wife Sandra of Florence, Italy, as well as many nieces and nephews both here and in Italy. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends, especially his business partner and buddy, Jim Kiaffas of Deep River.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook, on Friday, Jan. 17 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers his family suggests memorial donations to the Deep River Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 274 or a charity of choice. To share a memory of John please visit rwwfh.com.
