    Jacqueline Trask Ulrich, Branford

Jacqueline Trask Ulrich of Branford passed away on Feb. 13. She was the widow of Ret. U.S. Navy Commander John Allan Ulrich. The daughter of the late Bertha C. Johnson and Lyman M. Trask, Jackie was born April 29, 1929 in a private maternity hospital in West Haven and raised in Woodbridge and New Haven. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in speech from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. There she served as president of the Residential French House in her senior year.

She was employed at the B. Altman & Company in New York City. During that time she pursued additional courses at the New York Academy of Interior Design and retail courses at New York University. She became an interior designer at G. Fox & Co. in Hartford. Later she worked for the New Haven Register where, for more than 25 years, she was a feature writer and a society editor. One of her most memorable assignments was covering the 1980 Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid, New York. Jackie was on the board of the Branford Historical Society and a member of the Connecticut Audubon Society. She was a former member of the Alliance Française of New Haven. In recent years she enjoyed watching the squirrels, birds and chipmunks play in her yard.

Jackie’s wishes were to have a private funeral. Arrangements were in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
