    U.S. men's eight rowing team finishes fourth

    Tokyo — The United States men’s eight rowing team just missed out on a medal for the second straight Olympics, placing fourth in the Tokyo Games on Friday morning (Thursday night in the U.S.).

    The U.S. men, featuring Old Lyme graduates Austin Hack and Liam Corrigan, were edged by Great Britain for the bronze in a close finish.

    New Zealand won the gold in 5 minutes, 24.64 seconds over the 2,000-meter course while Germany was second in 5:25.60 and Great Britain third in 5:25.73.

    The U.S. was timed in 5:26.75. It was the second Olympic appearance for Hack, 29, while the 23-year-old Corrigan was making his Olympic debut.
