Santiago leads New London to Legion victory

New London - Edgard Santiago struck out nine and didn't allow an earned run in a complete game, two-hit effort to lead New London to a 5-1 win over Moosup at Sal Amanti Field in the Zone VI opener for both teams on Wednesday.

Kevin Shepherd had two hits, including a two-run double during a three-run fourth inning, and scored twice for New London, while David Hall had two hits, scored a run and drove in another and Aaron Hill had two hits and scored a run in the win.

Chase Hyland hit a pinch-hit RBI single for Moosup.

New London plays at Moosup at 5:30 p.m. today and at Jewett City on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
