Norwich — A parking ban will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the downtown area for the Winterfest Parade.

Traffic in the downtown area also will be rerouted.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

At 10 a.m. the area around Chelsea Parade and Broadway from Rockwell Street to Washington Street will be closed for parade preparations.

At 12:30 p.m. the entire parade route will be closed to traffic.

Streets include:

• Main Street from Burnham Square to Courthouse Square

• Franklin Street from McKinley Avenue to Franklin Square

• McKinley Avenue from Franklin Street to Broad Street

• Broad Street from McKinley Avenue to Broadway

• Broadway from Crescent Street to Broad Street

• Cliff Street from Main Street to Hawthorne and Park streets

No parking areas include:

• Washington Street, east side adjacent to Chelsea Parade

• Chelsea Parade North, both sides

• Crescent Street, both sides from Chelsea Parade South to Broadway

• Chelsea Parade South, both sides

• Broadway, both sides from Broad Street to Washington Street; east side from Union Square to Main Street

• Broad Street, both sides Broadway to McKinley Avenue

• McKinley Avenue, both sides from Broad Street to Franklin Street

• Franklin Street, both sides from McKinley Avenue to Franklin Square

• Main Street, both sides from Burnham Square to Shannon Corner

Police are urging motorists to use public garages and parking lots.
