Montville students taken to hospital following bus accident

Montville – Six students from Montville High School were taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after the bus they were riding in was rear-ended.

Police said the students, the youngest of whom was 16, and Mary Furey, the driver of the station wagon that hit the bus, were taken to The William W. Backus Hospital following the crash, reported at around 2:38 p.m.

The bus, filled with 17 students, was southbound on Route 32 and was waiting at a red light at Woodland Drive when Furey crashed her Subaru into the bus, police said.

Neither the students nor Furey, 59, had visible injuries, but they complained of pain, police said. All seven were treated for minor injuries.

Furey, of 532 Fire St., was cited for traveling too close, police said.
