UPDATED: Life Star called for Burlington man in single-car crash in North Stonington

Stonington – A Burlington man was taken by helicopter Thursday afternoon to Rhode Island Hospital after crashing his vehicle on Interstate 95 southbound near Exit 91.
Police said Jeffrey J. Powers, 26, was in the left lane of the highway when he went off the left shoulder, struck about 80 feet of guardrail and crashed into a tree in the median. State police said Powers was alert and conscious but complained of neck pain.
Police said he was flown to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., for evaluation.
