New London — A 46-year-old city man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly pulled out a knife at a convenience store when the store clerk told him to pay for items he was consuming, police said.

Police were dispatched to the Ravi gas station convenience store on 268 Bank St. at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday, where Francisco Reyes, of 2 Alger St., had been opening up wrapped food items and eating them, police said.

When the store clerk told Reyes to pay for the food, Reyes pulled out a knife and said he had already paid, according to police.

He then fled the scene, said police. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Police located Reyes in the vicinity of Coit and Reed streets.

Reyes was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. He was also charged on a warrant with failure to pay an infraction and with possession of heroin after police found heroin in his sock. He was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond, police said.
