Police make arrest in 2011 Norwich drive-by shooting

Norwich – Police arrested a city man on Thursday who was wanted for attempted murder stemming from a July 2011 drive-by shooting.

Reginald D. Dixon, 23, of 320 Central Ave. was charged with criminal attempt at murder and first-degree assault.

Dixon first was arrested in Concord, N.C., on unrelated charges when the Cabarrus County Sheriffs Office discovered he was wanted in Norwich. Dixon waived extradition and was brought back to face the local charges.

Dixon is accused of shooting Keshon Elliott on July 2, 2011. Elliott, who was 19 at the time, was paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the shooting.

Witnesses that night said a man in a car pulled up to the intersection at the corner of Seventh Street and Central Avenue and fired three shots in front of the Who's Next Barber Shop.

Dixon is held in lieu of a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear Friday in Norwich Superior Court.
