    Man drowns in Plainfield pool

    Plainfield – A 38-year-old Danielson resident died this evening after an apparent drowning at the town pool, police said.

    Glenn Gavis was swimming at the pool with his son and other family members at about 7 p.m. when lifeguards saw he appeared to be unconscious and pulled him from the water, police said. The lifeguards began CPR until medical personnel arrived. Gavis was transported to the Plainfield Backus Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead.

    The pool remained closed for a few hours while police investigated the incident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
