    Norwich man charged with prostitution

    Lamont Bulerin

Norwich — A Norwich man was charged with prostitution during an undercover sting early this morning in the Greeneville section of town.

Police said Lamont Bulerin, 36, has an extensive criminal history, including past arrests for prostitution, failure to appear in court and narcotics violations.

Police said the sting was conducted after receiving numerous complaints from residents about men and women engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior in exchange for money.

A plainclothes officer approached Bulerin who police said is a well-known male prostitute on Central Avenue. Police said Bulerin dresses as a female.

An agreement was made between the undercover officer and Bulerin, police said. A motor vehicle stop was conducted in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Smith Street, and Bulerin was placed under arrest.

Sgt. Patrick Mickens said Bulerin is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond based on his prior conviction for failure to appear in court.

Bulerin is scheduled to be arraigned today in Norwich Superior Court.
