Millstone training building evacuated due to smoke

Waterford – The training building at the Millstone Power Station was evacuated at about 9 this morning after smoke was seen coming from the computer room for the Unit 3 simulator, spokesman Ken Holt said.

Local fire departments responded, but no water or fire extinguishers were used because no fire was detected, he said. The smoke was coming from a power supply to the computer room.

The power to the computer was turned off, and it is no longer emitting smoke, he said. The cause is being investigated.

No one was injured. The training building is about 1 mile from the two nuclear reactors at the site and is outside the security zone for the plant.
