Colchester man faces child porn charges

Montville - State police arrested a 50-year-old Colchester man Thursday for allegedly possessing and importing child pornography.

John Stanley Shumski, of 31 Hickory Road was charged by warrant following an investigation by the state police Computer Crimes Unit. Police said they had investigated the distribution, importation and possession of child pornographic images between August 2013 and December 2013. Further details were not immediately available.

Shumski was charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and importation of child pornography. Processed at Troop E in Montville, Shumski is free after posting a court set $100,000 bond.

Shumski is slated to appear April 10 in New London Superior Court.
