Norwich — Police arrested four people on warrants for drug charges yesterday, according to a press release. Lt. Mark Rankowitz said Two of the suspects were arrested at an assisted living home.

Tiffany Anderson, 21, and Calvin Richardson, 34, both of 85 Norman Road, apt. 201, Norwich, have been charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, and operating a drug factory.

The address where the pair reside belongs to Chase Manor II, an “an income-restricted senior housing community” managed by Konover Residential Corporation, according to the Simon Konover Company website.

Rankowitz said Anderson was an official resident of the housing community, but said he did not know how the woman was able to rent an apartment there given her age.

”It was very strange. I don’t know why they’d want to live there,” he said.

Police seized drug packaging and processing items, approximately four grams of crack cocaine, and over $3,500 in currency from the couple, according to the release.

Anderson was held on $25,000 bond and Richardson on $100,000 bond. The two are due in Norwich Superior Court this morning.

In a separate investigation, police, with the aid of Taftville Community Crime Watch, identified a heroin trafficking operation at 8 South A St., Taftville, according to the release.

Residents Shawn Brown, 37, and Dianis Mercado, 30, were charged with possession of heroin and intent to sell. Police seized 25 bags of heroin in the arrest, the release stated.

Brown was held on a $50,000 bond and is due at Norwich Superior Court today. Mercado was released on a bond of $10,000 and is due at the court April 24.
