Ledyard police arrest man in connection with hit and run accident

Ledyard police arrested a man in connection with an accident and chase last month after he appeared in court on another warrant, according to a news release.

Myles Grillo, 21, of no certain address, was charged Nov. 14 with third-degree larceny by possession for a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, evading responsibility and driving without a license.

On Oct. 24, Ledyard Police received a call about an accident involving a vehicle and stone wall on Church Hill Road at Fanning Road.

The driver fled in the vehicle before police arrived, but officers followed a fluid trail from the scene, and a witness reported a vehicle with heavy damage in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts on Route 2 in Preston.

When a Ledyard police officer arrived at the parking lot, the driver ran into the woods, then across Route 2 and into woods next to the Hilton Gardens Hotel. State Police and the Mashantucket Tribal Police helped with the search, but didn’t find the man. The car was found to have been stolen from Virginia Beach, Va.

Then on Oct. 25, the man was arrested in Groton on a separate outstanding arrest warrant. On Nov. 14, Ledyard Police arrested him in New London Superior Court on a warrant related to the original accident.

He was being held by the Department of Corrections after his arraignment.
